Broadcast Campaigns — Reach Your Customers at Scale

Send targeted WhatsApp messages to specific customer segments — announce a sale to repeat buyers, send a discount to cart abandoners, or share new arrivals with your entire customer base.

Plan requirement: Broadcast Campaigns require the Growth plan.

Creating a Campaign

Go to Dashboard → Campaigns and click New Campaign.

Step 1: Campaign Details

  • Name — internal name for your reference (e.g., "Eid Sale 2026")
  • Segment — choose which customers to target (All, New, Bought, Repeat, Not Bought, Cart Abandoner)
  • Template — select a pre-approved WhatsApp template for the message

Step 2: Template Variables

If your template has variable placeholders (e.g., "Hi {{1}}, we have a special offer!"), map them to customer data like name, phone, or custom values.

Step 3: Schedule

  • Send immediately — starts dispatching right away
  • Schedule for later — pick a date and time
  • TTL (Time-to-Live) — how long the message stays valid for delivery (in seconds)

Step 4: Preview & Confirm

Before sending, you'll see:

  • Matched recipients — how many customers match the selected segment
  • Opted-in count — how many have an active service window (free messages)
  • Estimated cost — based on Meta's rate card for your template category
  • Preflight checks — account quality, messaging tier, sendability

Campaign Statuses

  • Draft — saved but not yet sent
  • Scheduled — set to send at a future time
  • Sending — currently dispatching messages
  • Sent — all messages dispatched
  • Failed — could not complete (check error details)
  • Cancelled — you cancelled before it finished

Campaign Analytics

After a campaign is sent, go to its analytics page to see:

  • Delivery metrics — sent, delivered, failed per recipient
  • Total cost breakdown
  • Per-recipient status

Message Categories & Costs

WhatsApp messages are categorized by Meta, and each category has a different cost:

  • Marketing — promotional messages, broadcasts, offers. Most expensive.
  • Utility — order confirmations, status updates, COD. Moderate cost.
  • Service — replies within the 24-hour window. Free (no charge from Meta).
  • Authentication — OTP and verification messages.

Broadcast campaigns always use Marketing templates — these are billed by Meta at the marketing rate. Check the current rates in Dashboard → Spend.

Messaging Tiers

Meta limits how many messages you can send per day based on your account quality tier:

  • Tier 250 — up to 250 unique customers per 24h
  • Tier 1K — up to 1,000 unique customers per 24h
  • Tier 10K — up to 10,000
  • Tier 100K — up to 100,000
  • Unlimited — no cap

Your tier increases automatically as you send more quality messages. Botaura shows your current tier and sends a warning if your campaign might exceed the tier cap.

Cart Abandonment Recovery (Growth)

Go to Dashboard → Cart Recovery to set up automatic recovery for abandoned carts.

How It Works

  1. A customer starts an order but doesn't complete it
  2. After a configurable delay (default: 30 minutes), the first nudge is sent
  3. If still no response, a second nudge goes out after 24 hours
  4. A final nudge at 48 hours

Configuration

  • Enable/Disable — toggle the entire recovery system on or off
  • Delay per step — set the wait time before each nudge (minutes, hours, or days)
  • Template per step — choose which template to send at each step

Smart Window Handling

  • If the 24-hour window is still open → sends a free-form text nudge (free)
  • If the window is closed → sends a marketing template (billable, only if customer opted in)

Recovery Stats

The dashboard shows: open abandonments, recovered carts, conversion rate, and scheduled nudges count.

Click-to-WhatsApp (CTWA) Ads (Growth)

Go to Dashboard → CTWA Ads for analytics on your Facebook and Instagram click-to-WhatsApp ad campaigns.

When someone clicks a "Message on WhatsApp" button in your Facebook/Instagram ad, Botaura tracks the lead source and gives you attribution data:

  • Total leads from ads
  • Facebook vs Instagram breakdown
  • Per-ad performance (lead count, conversion rate, revenue)
  • Recent leads with ad source details

CTWA conversations get a 72-hour free window from Meta (instead of the normal 24h), giving you more time to engage the customer without template costs.

Spend Tracking (Growth)

Go to Dashboard → Spend for a complete view of your WhatsApp costs:

  • Monthly spend by category (marketing, utility, service, authentication)
  • Spend by campaign (individual campaign costs)
  • Meta's actual delivery costs (when available)
  • Current messaging tier and daily cap
  • Per-message rate card

Remember: these costs are billed by Meta directly. Botaura shows them for transparency — we don't mark up or bill for WhatsApp messages.
