Product Catalog Management — Power Product Answers & Orders
Your product catalog is what lets the bot answer "how much is this?", show rich product cards on your website, and take orders on WhatsApp. The more accurate your catalog, the better the bot sells for you. This guide covers adding products, what each field does, and how the bot decides which products to show.
Where the Catalog Is Used
- Answering product questions — on web and WhatsApp, in every plan that has the bot.
- Product cards on the website (Pro+) — when a product is relevant, the web widget shows a rich card with image, title, price, and a link to the product page.
- WhatsApp orders (Business+) — the bot shows an interactive product list so customers can pick items, build a cart, and place a cash-on-delivery order right in chat.
On WhatsApp there are no rich JSON cards, so products are presented as an interactive list or in plain text (for example, "Lawn Suit — Rs 4,500"). The same catalog powers both surfaces.
Adding Products
Manage everything in Dashboard → Products. There are two ways to fill your catalog:
Method 1: Crawl Your Website (Pro+)
When Botaura crawls your site, it detects product pages — using price patterns, "Add to Cart" buttons, and structured data — and imports product details automatically: name, price, image, description, and page URL. This is the fastest way to build a catalog if you already have an online store.
Method 2: Add Products Manually
Add or edit products by hand for full control. Each product can have:
- Title — the product name customers search for
- Price
- Description — short details that help the bot match questions
- Image URL — shown on web product cards
- Category — helps relevance matching
- Page URL — where the card links to
How the Bot Picks Which Products to Show
Botaura doesn't dump your whole catalog into every reply. It matches the customer's question against your products by keywords across title, description, and category, then shows the most relevant ones — up to about 10 items in a WhatsApp interactive list. There's also a size cap on how much catalog text goes into any single answer, so replies stay fast and focused.
Practically, that means: clear titles and descriptions win. If customers call something a "lawn suit," make sure that phrase is in the title or description so the bot surfaces it.
Keeping the Catalog Accurate
- Prices and availability matter — orders and confirmations use these numbers, so keep them current.
- Re-crawl after store updates — if you add or reprice products on your site, re-crawl to refresh the catalog (or turn on auto-recrawl). See the Knowledge Base guide.
- Remove discontinued items so the bot never quotes something you can't deliver.
